Hotel Saint-Sulpice | New Hospitality in Old Montreal

Tucked behind the Notre-Dame Basilica in the heart of Old Montreal, Hotel Saint-Sulpice has completed an ambitious transformation that redefines boutique luxury in the city. This landmark property, long known for its elegant charm and unbeatable location, now emerges with a bold new look following the full redesign of its 108 suites and the unveiling of a refreshed visual identity.
The renovations reflect a deep commitment to place, comfort, and sustainability. Every element of the redesign invites guests to experience a refined version of Montreal hospitality—one that honors the past while embracing contemporary style and values.
Where Art, Design, and Spirit Meet
The newly reimagined suites have been thoughtfully redesigned by the local studio FAM DESIGN, co-founded by Vanessa Brisset and Laurence Guimond, whose all-woman team brought a distinctly Montreal touch to the project.

Drawing inspiration from the city’s culinary, artistic, and cultural scenes, each suite is rich in texture and tone. Locally sourced materials and a palette rooted in the city’s vibrant identity give each space a warm, immersive ambiance.

The design goes beyond surface aesthetics. Every suite—whether a spacious loft, a chic apartment-style unit, or a luxurious penthouse—offers a layout that balances elegance with functionality.

Kitchenettes, generous living areas, and sweeping city views make the hotel especially ideal for longer stays or guests seeking a pied-à-terre in Old Montreal.

One of the most captivating artistic features is the custom wallpaper found in each room, designed by Atelier Mezari in collaboration with artist Stephanie Coleman.

These hand-screened pieces reinterpret the classic toile de Jouy pattern with scenes of iconic Montreal landmarks.

The result is a uniquely local take on historic French textile design—deeply rooted in both the city’s founding in New France and its continuing creative evolution.

The hotel also features works by famed Quebec designer Jean-Claude Poitras, who made his mark on international fashion from the 1970s through the early 2000s. His pieces, exhibited throughout the corridors and in several suites, offer a graceful nod to Montreal’s rich cultural lineage.

A New Standard in Sustainable Hospitality
Hotel Saint-Sulpice is not only raising the bar for boutique accommodations, but also setting a standard for sustainable tourism. In December 2024, the hotel became the first in Quebec to earn Silver Certification from GreenStep’s Sustainable Tourism program.

Every aspect of the hotel’s operations has been reviewed with an eco-conscious mind, offering guests a guilt-free luxury experience without compromise.

An Urban Oasis Steps from Old City Icons
Situated in one of Montreal’s most storied districts, Hotel Saint-Sulpice offers immediate access to historic architecture, fine dining, museums, and the cobblestone charm of the Old Port. At the same time, the hotel provides a serene escape from the bustle of the city.

Its private courtyard gardens, where the newly opened restaurant Cour Arrière is nestled, offer a peaceful space to dine and unwind.

With inventive dishes and a tranquil terrace, Cour Arrière complements the hotel’s sensory-rich experience with a menu of bold, celebratory flavors.

Built on a site that once housed the homes of New France icons Charles Le Moyne and Jacques Le Ber, the hotel seamlessly blends modern design with its 17th-century roots. The “S” engraved on each suite door stands as a symbol of this continuity between past and present.
With its impeccable design, local artistry, and environmental leadership, Hotel Saint-Sulpice invites travelers to rediscover Old Montreal through a door to sophisticated, sustainable hospitality.
