Montréal en Lumière | Skating Downtown in celebration of our Northern heritage
From February 17th to March 5th, lace up your skates and celebrate Winter at Montréal en Lumière!
For its 23rd edition, Montréal en Lumière invites you to travel locally and discover Winter in a brand new light from February 17 until March 5! The program features a spectacular skating loop overlooking place des Festivals as well as an exclusive show created by Les 7 Doigts that will be performed on the Esplanade Tranquille skating rink. You’ll not only enjoy luminous installations and giant film projections on skates and its northern heritage, but you’ll rediscover the beauty and energy of Montreal in Winter free of charge!
An aerial skating loop with music
The only one of its kind in the world, the innovative Scotia Bank Skating Loop at the Place des Festivals promises to be one of the highlights of the 2022 edition. This impressive, 300-metre-long raised loop offers you a thrilling new way to see the urban landscape. A multitude of LED tubes will light the path, creating a dynamic and novel visual effect that will turn your skate into an unique experience.
In addition to featuring a musical program when the skating rink opens, the festival also invites you to celebrate your love of music (francophone, country, jazz, rock, electronic and more) from 9 pm to 11 pm during its theme evenings!
Sundays at the skating loop with ICI Musique
Sunday, February 20 and 27 from noon to 11 pm, lace up your skates and glide around to the music program created specially for you by the hosts of ICI Musique.
As well, every evening at 7 pm and 8 pm, the Scotia Bank Skating Loop will come alive with the festive, five-minute sound and light show Coeur dansant, presented as part of Luminothérapie.
What else? People can put on their skates in the comfort of a chalet before hitting the loop.

When circus arts and skating unite: CADENCE
Created by Les 7 Doigts exclusively for Montréal en Lumière, the ice show CADENCE takes the public on a magical tour through the history of skating. This impressive production, which combines world-class skaters and circus arts performers will be set to major screen projections by Maxim Lepage.
High-flying acrobatics, acrobatic barrel jumping and a Cyr wheel on ice, an ice-rink-turned-skatepark, CADENCE is a free, can’t-miss experience that will thrill young and old twice daily (at 6:30 pm. and 8:30 pm.) at Esplanade Tranquille’s dynamic outdoor skating rink in the Quartier des spectacles.
Directed by Sébastien Soldevila (Les 7 Doigts), CADENCE stars Olympic skaters Shawn Sawyer, Marie-Jade Lauriault, and Romain Le Gac, Martin Barrau (Red Bull Crashed Ice medal winner), Yuma Baudoin (French Roller champion) as well as Patrick Léonard (Les 7 Doigts) and tightrope walker Marie-Ève Dicaire. Alexia Gourd and Alain Goldberg will be narrating the show alongside the 16 artists on ice.
