Time to experience the best restaurants in the Old Montreal thanks to Happening Gourmand

Held annually in the month of January, this festival brings together some of the best restaurants in Montreal to offer special menus and deals for food lovers. The 2023 edition of Montreal Happening Gourmand promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

The event runs from March 2th to April 2th, and more than 20 restaurants across the city will participate. Each restaurant will offer a fixed-price menu that includes a three-course meal, with prices ranging from $32 to $52. The menus will feature some of the restaurants’ signature dishes as well as some new and innovative creations.

One of the most exciting aspects of the 2023 edition of Montreal Happening Gourmand is the variety of cuisines that will be on offer. From classic French cuisine to Asian fusion and everything inbetween, there will be something for everyone. Some of the participating restaurants include Vieux-Port Steakhouse, Maggie Oakes, Méchant Boeuf, and Kyo Bar Japonais, among others.

Experience one of the best sushi restaurants in Montreal for a small cost!

I had the pleasure of testing the Gourmet Happening menu for Kyo Bar Japonais, one of my favorite sushi restaurants in town.

This modern and stylish restaurant offers an unforgettable journey through Japanese cuisine, with a menu that’s bursting with flavor and creativity. From the moment you step inside, you’ll be transported to a world of elegance and sophistication. The chic décor is accented by soft lighting, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends.

Kyo Bar Japonais specializes in contemporary Japanese cuisine, with an emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients and bold flavors. From the sashimi platters to the signature rolls, every dish is a work of art.

One standout dish of their Happening Gourmand menu is Bincho Carpacio, a delicious and light Yellowfin Tuna dish served with pickled jalapenos and ponzu sauce.

If you’re in the mood for something heartier, go for the Nasu Dengaku, a miso glazed eggplant served with shallots, bonito (small tuna) and sweet and salty popcorn.

Throughout your meal, the service is impeccable. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, making sure that every detail is taken care of. Whether you’re a seasoned sushi lover or new to Japanese cuisine, they’ll help guide you through the menu and make recommendations that are tailored to your taste.

The perfect way to experience the most popular food event in the city!
