Cirque du Soleil ECHO in Montreal: A Dreamlike Journey Under the Big Top
CC Jean-François Savaria
A Living Poem of Movement and Connection
Under the Grand Chapiteau in Montreal, Cirque du Soleil’s ECHO unfolds like a breathing organism: Alive, pulsing, and deeply human. This isn’t just a show; it’s a reflection of the world we are shaping, one movement at a time.
At the heart of ECHO lies a simple yet powerful idea: every action reverberates. As described in the press kit, the show explores how “every choice we make sends ripples through our environment” .
Through breathtaking acrobatics, immersive visuals, and live music, ECHO invites you into a universe where imagination becomes reality and reality bends into something more poetic.

The Story: A Cube, A Girl, A New World
ECHO follows Future, a curious young woman who discovers a mysterious Cube, an ever-evolving structure that reflects balance, fragility, and possibility. Alongside her loyal companion Ewai, she embarks on a journey where the boundaries between humans, animals, and nature dissolve.

The Cube itself is more than a set piece, it is the pulse of the show. It rotates, disassembles, and rebuilds before your eyes, mirroring the cycles of creation and destruction. Standing two stories tall, it becomes a stage, a canvas, and a symbol all at once.
The Acts: Gravity Defied, Emotion Amplified

Each act in ECHO feels like a fragment of a dream distinct yet interconnected:
- Banquine & Human Cradle: Bodies launch into the air in a celebration of trust and unity.
- Double Slackwire: A fragile dance between balance and collapse, reflecting the tension of coexistence.
- Flying Poles: Strength becomes poetry as performers rebuild a fractured world mid-air.
- Triple Teeterboard: A final explosion of energy—joy, resilience, and collective triumph.
With 53 artists from 19 countries and up to 10 shows per week, ECHO is a global symphony of movement.

A Soundscape That Breathes
Music in ECHO is not background, it’s a living force. For the first time in Cirque du Soleil history, the entire band becomes vocal, blending seven voices with live instrumentation in a fluid, evolving performance.
The vocalists don’t just sing, they shape the emotional rhythm of the show, layering harmonies over strings, percussion, and electronic textures. Their voices rise and echo through the Big Top, sometimes intimate, sometimes cinematic.
The result? A soundscape that doesn’t just accompany the show, it surrounds you and lingers long after the final moment.
