The Fantasia International Film Festival returns for its 28th edition with an electrifying lineup of screenings, workshops, and launches from July 18 to August 4, 2024. The event’s heart will be at the Concordia Hall Cinema, with additional screenings at the Cinémathèque Québécoise and the Cinéma du Musée. Here are some highlights you won’t want to miss:
Opening Night: July 18 at 6:30 PM – SGWU Alumni Auditorium (Hall Theatre)
The opening night will feature a screening of “Bookworm,” with Elijah Wood and Ant Timpson in attendance. New Zealand director Ant Timpson collaborates once again with Elijah Wood, who shone in “Come to Daddy.” In “Bookworm,” Wood shares the screen with the talented young actress Nell Fisher in a family film as entertaining as it is cinematically inspired, reminiscent of classics like “Walkabout” and “Hunt for the Wilderpeople.” Elijah Wood delivers one of the best performances of his career.
Special Screening: July 26 at 9:45 PM
Don’t miss the special screening of “Witchboard” with Chuck Russell. Renowned for his works such as “A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors” and “The Mask,” Chuck Russell returns to the horror genre with a bold reimagining of “Witchboard,” a cult classic from the 1980s.
