Oatbox | Extraordinary Latte Art Competition at Entrepôts Dominion
Entrepôts Dominion, a venue in Montreal’s Saint-Henri neighbourhood, reverberated with caffeinated excitement on September 12, as OATBOX unveiled its latest “ExtraOATdinary” innovations in the form of two delightful oat beverages, Original and Barista. The event, a rich blend of celebration and competition, had the créme de la créme of the local barista community showing off their latte artistry.
The name of the game? So You Think You Can Mousse, a cheeky homage to the acclaimed dance show So You Think You Can Dance. And with 36 talented baristas vying for the top spot, the atmosphere was thick with anticipation and frothy creativity.
As guests trickled in, they were greeted with not only the tantalizing aroma of freshly brewed coffee but also the unique opportunity to craft their art latte using professional machines and frothers.
Add to that a selection of delicious cocktails and scrumptious bites, including a large pan of paella, and the stage was set for an unforgettable evening.
The latte art competition, spread across five rounds, was meticulously judged by four Oatbox-appointed connoisseurs. Each barista had the spotlight, displaying their prowess, infusing their personal touch, and ultimately aiming for the frothy crown.
Emerging as the cream of the crop was Zoé Breton of Sutton’s Café Yamabiko, clinching the first prize. Her accolades included a whopping $1,000 in cash, $1,000 worth of top-tier equipment, and a whopping 930 Barista drinks. Close on her heels was Julien Novak-Bélanger from Café In Gamba, followed by Aimerance Merveille from Veille Café in third place. Each brought their distinct flair to the table, and the rewards mirrored their stellar performances.
However, beyond the thrilling competition, the spotlight shone brightly on Oatbox’s two-year journey culminating in the launch of their 100% Canadian oat beverages. These drinks, hailing from their new production line in Saint-Damase, are the epitome of purity, featuring non-GMO Canadian oats, without any added sugar or gum.
As guests departed from Entrepôts Dominion, they carried with them the taste of Oatbox’s groundbreaking beverages, memories of an exhilarating competition, and anticipation for what this trailblazing brand would brew up next.
