This year, Montreal’s festivities embraced the theme of Mediterranean Diet and Root Cuisine: Health and Tradition, a nod to Italy’s rich heritage of flavors and well-being. This culinary journey, supported by the Consulate General of Italy in Montreal and Migrazioni Sonore, culminated with a grand finale at the Institut de Tourisme et d’Hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ). Here, Michelin-starred Chef Stefano Ciotti led a memorable gala dinner, showcasing Italian dishes rooted in tradition yet brimming with innovation.

For those passionate about Italian culture, gastronomy, and music, this week-long event was a feast for the senses. As one of the key figures, Chef Stefano Ciotti, an ambassador for the ALMA-Scuola Internazionale di Cucina Italiana, brought the cuisine of Italy’s Marches region to life, delighting attendees with his signature dishes. Known for his masterful blend of authenticity and creativity, Chef Ciotti not only crafted a culinary experience for the gala but also offered an exclusive masterclass to ITHQ culinary students, sharing the artistry of Italian cooking with Montreal’s future culinary stars.

The week’s crowning event was undoubtedly the gala dinner, an evening rich in Italian flavors, cultural connections, and a hint of nostalgia. Chef Ciotti’s menu featured specialties from the Marches region, including the renowned pergola cherry wine by Eredi di Tonelli Corrado, exquisite truffles from Pergola Tartufi, the finest extra-virgin olive oil from Frantoio Agostini, and artisan pasta from Campofilone Spinosi. Tuscany was also represented by the distinguished Podere Sapaio winery, showcasing wines from Bolgheri’s celebrated vineyards.

Among the attendees were Fortunato Mangiola, Commercial Consul; Salvatore Sciacchitano, President of the ICAO Council; Quebec Delegate Fouquette L’Anglais; Canadian Member of Parliament Angelo Iacono; and Casa d’Italia representatives, including President Perry Mazzanti and Director Giovanna Giordano. With live music from Italian folk guitarist Finaz, a member of the acclaimed Bandabardò, the atmosphere was vibrant, blending the energy of Italian music with the flavors of Italy’s iconic dishes.
