Top 4 Montreal Art Exhibits This Week | Must-See Art Openings

Montreal continues to prove why it remains one of the most dynamic cultural cities in North America. This week’s vernissages bring together a mix of emerging talent, established artists, and thoughtfully curated exhibitions that explore themes of transformation, identity, and perception.

From vibrant collective shows to immersive artistic experiences, these openings offer more than just art—they create spaces for connection, discovery, and conversation.

Here are the Top 4 Vernissages in Montreal you need to check out this week!

1. GERMINAL – Galerie Wishbone

📍 Belgo Building, 372 Sainte-Catherine Ouest, Space 406
🗓 Thursday, March 19, 2026 | 5PM – 9PM

GERMINAL – Galerie Wishbone

Galerie Wishbone has built a strong reputation for hosting some of the most welcoming and engaging vernissages in the city, and this week’s collective exhibition Germinal continues that momentum.

The show introduces two newly represented artists, Mona Sugata and Nathan Bartley, alongside works by Armelle Clouâtre, who also directs the gallery. Together, they explore the theme of germination, both as a natural process and a metaphor for transformation.

Through a diverse range of mediums including painting, sculpture, textile, photography, and paper, the exhibition invites reflection on growth, memory, and interconnectedness. The atmosphere at Wishbone is always lively and social, making it an ideal place to engage with both the art and the community.

A strong and thoughtful exhibition that sets the tone for the week.

2. Champs de fracture + Chantal Khoury – Galerie Bradley Ertaskiran

📍 3550 Saint-Antoine Ouest
🗓 Thursday, March 19, 2026 | 5PM – 8PM

Champs de fracture + Chantal Khoury – Galerie Bradley Ertaskiran

Galerie Bradley Ertaskiran is known for drawing a strong crowd, and this Thursday will be no exception with two exhibitions opening simultaneously.

Upstairs, Chantal Khoury presents a new series of abstract paintings that aim to soften the weight and rigidity of history. Her work plays with visibility and concealment, offering a layered reading of form and meaning.

In the bunker space, the group exhibition Champs de fracture features works by Marie-Michelle Deschamps, Dawit L. Petros, Jeremy Shaw, Erin Shirreff, and Shaan Syed. The exhibition explores fragmentation, both material and conceptual through painting, mixed media, and photography, challenging viewers’ perceptions.

The combination of strong programming and a vibrant crowd makes this one of the most anticipated openings of the week.

3. A Way of Willing – ART MATTERS Festival

📍 Atelier-Galerie 2112, 2112 Atateken
🗓 Thursday, March 19, 2026 | 6PM – 9PM

A Way of Willing – ART MATTERS Festival

As part of this year’s ART MATTERS Festival, themed Terrains instables, A Way of Willing offers a compelling look at emerging artists and contemporary conversations.

The exhibition centers on the theme of desire, inspired by dialogues between Afro-surrealist filmmaker Madeleine Hunt-Ehrlich and four Black artists from different disciplines. The result is a deeply reflective exploration of desire in its most authentic form.

Beyond the exhibition itself, ART MATTERS vernissages are known for their lively and inclusive atmosphere. It’s a space where new voices are celebrated and where the next wave of Montreal’s art scene begins to take shape.

If you’re looking to discover emerging talent, this is the place to be.
