Montreal’s November Gets a Sweet Upgrade
Grey skies and chilly streets? Forget them. Sugar Ball 2025 transformed Montreal’s dreary November into a radiant wonderland. The historic St-James Theatre became a living, breathing kaleidoscope of candy colours, pastel gowns, shimmering jewels, and playful fashion statements that turned heads at every turn.
The theatre’s Beaux-Arts architecture glowed under shifting lights – rose, lilac, gold, and cerulean, casting dramatic shadows and turning every arch and cornice into part of the spectacle. Laughter echoed, heels clicked across the polished floors, and the anticipation of an unforgettable night hummed in the air.

Glamour With a Purpose
The Sugar Ball dazzles, but it’s never just about style. At its heart lies a steadfast dedication to culture and community. Thanks to the generosity of the 700 participants and valued partners, more than $265,000 was raised to support the McCord Stewart Museum’s educational programs, allowing over 10,000 students to discover Montréal’s social history each year.
The charity auction added another $55,000, featuring exclusive lots ranging from prestigious getaways to unique works from the Museum’s collection.

Behind every sparkling detail were the tireless efforts of volunteers, committee members, and sponsors, from coordinating décor to guiding guests through the night’s experiences. The Sugar Ball proves philanthropy doesn’t have to be solemn: generosity here is playful, joyful, and thoroughly glamorous.

Music, Movement, and Multi-Sensory Magic
From 9 p.m. until the early morning, the St-James Theatre pulsed with rhythm. Guests flowed between multiple levels, moving from dance floor to the mezzanine lounge and gathering spaces in an orchestrated chaos of fun and energy.

A violinist on the Princess Grace mezzanine provided a delicate, unexpected counterpoint to the DJ’s late-night set, weaving melodies above the crowd and adding a sense of drama to the unfolding celebration. As the music built, the dance floor erupted into waves of motion, glittering fabrics swirling and guests losing themselves to the beat.
It wasn’t just a party, it was a multi-sensory experience, where architecture, light, sound, and movement collided to create a night that felt alive, immersive, and electric.

Sweet Indulgences and Curated Moments
Before the dance floor took over, VIP guests explored a sumptuous spread from Montreal favourites like Les Enfants Terribles, Pois Penché, Ferreira, Le Richmond, and Milos. Candy stations dotted the venue, offering playful, colourful treats that hinted at the whimsical energy yet to come.

The venue itself became part of the storytelling. Vintage photographs of Montreal’s sporting, fashion, and cultural milestones added a layer of nostalgia to the night, while atmospheric makeup lounges allowed guests to refresh and elevate their looks for the evening’s high-energy rhythm. Every detail, from light installations to table displays was part of an experience that celebrated Montreal’s creativity, style, and history.
