Space Explorers: THE INFINITE | Mind-Blowing VR Trip Returns to Montreal
After a triumphant North American tour, the stellar sensation – Space Explorers: THE INFINITE – is making a celestial comeback to our city. This time, while anchored inside the Old Port’s Montreal Science Centre from May 3rd, 2023 to January 7th, 2024 the extraterrestrial exhibition is packing some new compelling content.
So, what’s the big idea? Well, this ain’t no standard planetarium show. This is a full-on, mind-blowing, immersive virtual reality space exploration experience.
Picture yourself lost in the infinite cosmos, walking alongside astronauts (without the minor inconvenience of a years-long NASA training program), and being treated to awe-inspiring sights previously reserved for the eyes of a select few.
And where better to host this close encounter than in the Montreal Science Centre? Located on the Quai King-Edward in the Old Port, a section of this popular science museum was transformed into a launchpad to the stars.
This VR tour de force isn’t just a flash in the pan. It has mesmerized audiences from Montreal to Houston to San Francisco and is based on the Primetime EMMY-Award® winning series Space Explorers: The ISS Experience. So it’s a kind of a big deal. The folks at Phi Studio, Felix & Paul Studios, TIME Studios, and NASA put their heads together and co-created this infinity experience.
You can immerse yourself in the daily lives of astronauts through interactive capsules filmed in VR inside and outside the International Space Station (ISS). It’s a free wandering tour that will have you floating around in zero gravity, minus the pesky spacesuit.
However, new content is the cherry on top of this lunar ice cream. Imagine experiencing the first-ever spacewalk filmed in 3D and 360-degree VR outside the ISS. You’ll get to feel the self-transcendent Overview Effect, while seeing Earth from a cognition-shifting perspective that only a handful of astronauts have ever beheld.
It has literally brought many earthbound participants (including me and my guests!) to tears…
As a finale, before leaving the building, participants are served the Artemis I liftoff on a silver platter – or rather, an immersive wall of five giant screens. If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to be inside a countdown chamber, gazing at a spacecraft about to take off, now’s your chance.
Space Explorers: THE INFINITE is not just an event; it’s a science adventure and spiritual odyssey, all rolled into one. It’s a must-see for space geeks, immersive experience enthusiasts, and families looking for an otherworldly day out. You can’t afford to miss this chance to be teleported to outer space without leaving the comforts of the island of Montreal.
Tickets are now on sale, and they’re hotter than a supernova. Get yours before they’re gone faster than light. So, Montreal, are you ready to explore the infinite? Beam up and see what’s out there.
