Naturally, the first question that pops in the minds of ethical foodies is how the harvest of seal meat is conducted. Well, each year Fisheries and Oceans Canada scientists set an annual quota taking in numerous factors including ice conditions, birth rates, etc. This quota has not been reached in years. Last year less than 20% of the actual quota was harvested. Both Harp Seal and Grey Seal are listed as “Smarter Seafood” by Exploramer, a certification program that ensures marine resources are managed and used responsibly.

High in iron, zinc and magnesium as well as in vitamin A, D3 and B12; the consumption of wild, natural seal meat and omega-3 seal oil has many health benefits, including improving energy metabolism, increasing red blood cell formation, reinforcing the immune system, helping build and repair body tissue, improving muscle function and increasing muscle strength.
