Papier 2022 will take place from August 26 to 28, 2022 @ the Port of Montreal’s Grand Quay

This will be the first edition since the pandemic, where people will be unmasked! PAPIER is known as “Canada’s hippest contemporary art fair” as quoted by the Gazette and numerous press. This is in part because the organizers do more than showcase art, they ensure the venue and ambiance are visually pleasing with their next level opening night! Last year its cocktails and canapes for the VIP Benefit & Opening Night were good enough to write home about.

Papier fair will take place at the Port of Montreal’s Grand Quay! L’Association des galeries d’art contemporain (AGAC) is delighted to celebrate the start of Montreal’s fall cultural season, taking advantage of the last week of summer to offer visitors an exciting and sunny experience for this 15th edition of the fair.

PAPIER 2022
Papier can be enjoyed by all ages, as contemporary art is a very wide niche. One can see by the cheeks of this little boy that he’s loving the art!

There are new exhibitors to Papier this year: Central Art Garage (Ottawa), Lalani Jennings (Guelph) and Parc Offsite (Montreal), as well as Jano Lapin Gallery (Montreal) who will be making its debut at Papier as a virtual exhibitor.

We are please to see that one of our past writers, who launched their cuture coverage career with us, Anne Jano, has not only launched her own artsy editorial – but an impressive Gallery Jano Lapin as well. We can’t wait to see what she has curated for the Papier art fair! Be sure to stop by her booth :)

Another gallery to keep on your watchlist is Paul Petro Contemporary Art. I have seen a few Sadko Hadzihasanovic pieces at our dear friend Patrick’s place (Owner of Titanic catering/caffe/resto). His Papier collection is called The Hissing of Summer Lawns. The title immediately brings a nostalgic audio track of the sun sizzling off morning dew, sun tan lotion and the buzzing of male cicadas.

The AGAQ promotes art from living Canadian artists. It has since grown to become the most important art fair in Quebec.

Since 2019, Papier has opened up to other mediums to reach an even broader audience. The show now gathers a large, eclectic public of art dealers, publishers, seasoned collectors, first-time buyers and simply curious. Its the perfect environment open to discussion and an exchange of ideas.

The Association is honoured to renew its collaboration with Karine Vanasse, spokesperson for the fair, as well as with Éric Bujold, honorary president of the event.
