Dining Al Fresco, Montreal Rooftops and Terraces for Summer 2020
When thousands of locals are fed up of staying in but scared of going out, what’s the best solution? It seems that terraces and rooftop Montreal bars and restos are a popular choice. “Go Al Fresco” Is what locals are saying. Al Fresco means “in the cool air”. With the recent mini outbreaks inside popular restos and bars across the globe, medical specialists are encouraging people to opt for picnics, terraces or roof tops where there is better air circulation to minimize Coivid-19 risk. Some other suggestions from medical professionals are:
- Wear a mask when using elevators, stairs, washrooms or paying inside to protect others.
- Wash hands before and after using everything. Bring gel incase they are low/out.
- Try and stick to your hood, and use your own washroom before going out.
- Ensure staff has masks. Visors can be even worse than nothing by aiming airflow down to plates!
- Spy the disinfecting efforts of those at the tables before you, was there a spray and wipe down?
We spoke to 5 Montreal restaurants and bars that are taking the Covid-19 risk seriously and have adapted to their new-normal in creative and strict protocol ways. We feel good about navigating those determined to wine & dine Al Fresco their way… do not consider this LIST Covid-19 proof, you take some level of risk the moment you leave your house. It is up to you to stay informed and be respectful of your contact with vulnerable people.
