Previously known as the Fashion and Design Festival, this event has rebranded itself, echoing its evolution since its inception in 2000. From August 24th to the 27th, the heart of Quartier des spectacles will pulsate with energy, hosting an anticipated 500,000 visitors. Expect everything from enchanting evening showcases to spirited daytime events – all free and all geared towards offering you a front-row seat to the city’s booming artistry. The rhythmic beats of continuous DJ sets will act as a backdrop to dazzling fashion presentations from star designers, such as Helmer. Dance aficionados can look forward to enthralling numbers, while music lovers can sway to the tunes of local and international artists. With diversity as a commitment, inclusivity and free expression will be the hallmarks of this festival.
The M.A.D Festival isn’t just about established names; it’s a platform for budding talent too. Institutions like LaSalle College, Collège Marie-Victorin, and the École supérieure de mode de l’UQAM are all set to present the next big names in fashion.
For those who have admired the creative genius of artist Zïlon, a moving tribute awaits on August 24, at 5PM. Join Geneviève Borne as she recites her poem against a sonic tapestry woven by the Montréal Symphony Orchestra. The night will culminate with a retrospective journey through Zïlon’s artistry, with the entrancing tracks of DJ Christian Pronovost.
Brace yourselves, shopaholics! M.A.D. Shoppe will introduce Canada’s first-ever live shopping fashion show. Imagine sitting comfortably, being smitten by a dress on the runway, and instantly adding it to your cart! This immersive shopping experience kicks off on August 27th at 8PM, both at the Place des Festivals and virtually.
