La Tablée des Chefs & Partners | 1,600,000 meals for Food Banks of Quebec
To help the Food Banks of Quebec, La Tablée des Chefs and its partners launched Les Cuisines Solidaires, a project which mobilizes the food industry and chefs of Quebec. This week Vincent White, Marketing Advisor at Taverne 1909 signé St-Hubert + Bazarette + NY Fries QC, involved in the mission informed us that they are on the verge of reaching their monumental goal!
The major mobilization initiative, to fill the refrigerators of the Food Banks of Quebec set an objective to prepare over 1,600,000 meals and feed people in need during and after the COVID-19 crisis. The pandemic has severely affected the activities of community organizations, many of which have even had to close for lack of resources. This has added to the uncertainty experienced by an increasing number of individuals and families who depend on their assistance daily.
La Tablée des Chefs is a charity whose mission is to feed people in need and develop culinary education for young people. It has brought together this rainbow of stakeholders to give life to Les Cuisines Solidaires.
High-profile chefs Stefano Faita, Caroline McCann, John Winter Russell, Jérôme Ferrer, Frédéric Cyr, Baptiste Peupion, Mario Martel, Éric Gonzalez, Yves Lowe and Ricardo Larrivée are among those who responded favourably to the call for solidarity, launched in collaboration with Association Restauration Québec. They have mobilized their brigades, reopening for some the kitchens of their restaurants especially for this initiative.
“Seeing the serious impacts of the crisis in our communities, we looked for a way to help people and imagined a great implication of leaders and actors of the agrifood sector. The response to our call was immediate: within the 1st week we mobilized generous public and private partners, received confirmations from chefs across the province and the support of many stakeholders in the agrifood industry!”
– Jean-François Archambault, Managing Director and Founder of La Tablée des Chefs

A rainbow coalition
Les Cuisines Solidaires could not have been created so rapidly without the contribution of major partners such as: Fondation Chopin-Péladeau, Québecor, IGA as well as the emergency fund of Centraide, the Government of Quebec and the Food Banks of Quebec. Other partners have also contributed with financial donations, equipment or food used to make the dishes.
There are 3 ways to get involved in the philanthropic movement: supporting the cause as chef or restaurateur, making a donation or becoming a partner. More information available here.
