Daffodil Ball 2024 Bloomed for a Great Cause and Raised Over $1.4M
In the heart of downtown Montreal, the grand hall of Windsor Station transformed into a beacon of hope and solidarity on the evening of April 18th for the 31st edition of the Daffodil Ball. Under the inspiring banner “Together as one • United by life,” this annual signature event of the Canadian Cancer Society raised a remarkable $1,474,785 to battle the disease by funding vital research and support for those affected.
The gala, a highlight in Quebec’s socialite calendar, was attended by 400 luminaries from the spheres of business, politics, and arts. The air buzzed with a palpable energy, a mix of celebration and heartfelt commitment to the cause. The evening’s guests were not just attendees but active participants in a shared mission to forge a future free from cancer.
Like previous editions, this year’s ball was both a networking cocktail, gourmet dinner, philanthropic fundraiser and dance party all rolled up into one bouquet of daffodil flowers. The Canadian Cancer Society collaborated with esteemed artists and survivors to create an unforgettable experience. Cirque Éloize and singer-songwriter Beyries, herself a breast cancer survivor, delivered performances that were both stirring and celebratory, encapsulating the evening’s theme of unity and survival.
Among the notable attendees were Florence-Agathe Dubé-Moreau, winner of numerous awards for her curatorial and art critic work, and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, celebrated for both his football feats and medical contributions.
The red carpet also welcomed stars like actors Maxime Le Flaguais and Caroline Dhavernas;
while radio presenters, Claudia Marques and Francisco Randez, hosted the event with grace and warmth.
The heart of the evening was the “Daffodil Moment.” This segment brought together cancer survivors, donors, volunteers, and researchers in a poignant demonstration of the collective effort in cancer fight. It was a vivid reminder that every person plays a crucial role in this battle, whether through scientific research, financial support, or personal endurance.
Off-stage, the Daffodil Ball was made possible by the meticulous efforts of Groupe Toria in production, RE Le Traiteur in catering, and the artistic touches of Charlotte Lefebvre in floral decoration. The decor and audiovisuals were expertly handled by Total Events and Celebrations Group, along with ABP Group, setting the scene for an evening of elegance and purpose.
One of the most significant impacts of the gala is its direct contribution to the ongoing fight against cancer in Quebec. Over the past year, more than 45,000 Quebecers have benefited from Canadian Cancer Society’s programs and support services. The society invested $7.2 million in the province, backing 43 cutting-edge research projects.
The Daffodil Ball’s legacy is profound. Since its inception in 1994, the event has gathered over $44.4 million, each dollar a step towards a cure, each moment of solidarity a testament to the strength of a community united against cancer.
As Montreal looks forward to the next Daffodil Ball on April 24, 2025, the message remains clear: It takes a society to fight cancer.
