Cozey Review | The MTL Designed Sofa In A Box
Introducing Cozey a Montreal designed and delivered sofa-in-a-box that has been taking Canadians by storm; by providing the quality of modern living, without the heavy lifting and equally heavy price tag.
What’s even better is that Cozey is a Montreal Story and at BestkeptMTL, our favorite thing is curating great local stories for our readers. With the direct-to-customer business model, Canadians save on the overhead of a typical funiture store. You may have heard of Endy or Casper? they are popular bed-in-a-box concepts that have sprung up in the past few years. With Montreal’s old apartment tiny doors and winding wooden and steel multi flight staircases, Cozey sofas seemed like the perfect Montreal sofa so we decided to try one out from box to build!
Before we get into the nitty gritty! Some quick facts about Cozey sofas:
1. Designed by Canadians, for Canadians
2. Free & quick shipping, 3-7 business days
3. Effortless assembly simple and tool-free (also nuts and bolts free! No more counting screws)
4. 30-day risk free trial, easy returns
5. Free fabric swatches, for A ZERO risk experience
Shipping & Packaging
Shipping was really fast, 2 days from order to doorstep. The sofa came in stack of 4 boxes, with cleverly indicated signage right on the boxes so that you understood which to open first. The pieces were light enough for 1 person to carry and 1 to hold a door open, but felt heavy enough to feel sturdy. We ordered the Cozey ivory 3 seater.
Assembly
Instructions were great and the sofa itself was very intuitive. In many cases, we knew what went where because it was the most logical thing to do. The engineering was very snap-and-lock and impressively there are ZERO nuts and bolts, so there is nothing that would get loose or jammed over time…We did get confused midway whether we needed to flip the sofa before one of the steps or not, but as you can see in the video, that was quick to resolve. The assembly took 42 minutes, with 1 person assembling. That includes unboxing. The sofa literally puts itself together. It’s only perhaps 1 step more complex than leggo. Take a look at our unboxing video!
Comfort & Quality
The name stands up. This sofa is cozy indeed! the cushions are thick but comfy and the back pillows have a generous height. Even the arm rest is padded enough. The fabric quality seems durable and easy to wash but we have not had the misfortune of finding out yet! For those who are hesitant to buy fabric that you have not seen or felt, no need to worry, they ship fabric swatches for FREE!
We have covered our new ivory friend with some fake fur throws from West Elm to protect it from dirt and damage. We have also decided that our pug mascot can visit on someone’s lap but not directly on the sofa or throws.
