Set in a time where curiosity cabinets were the precursors to modern museums, KURIOS invites us into the world of the Seeker. Within his grand curio cabinet, the Seeker believes in an invisible realm where the most whimsical ideas and dreams come to life. This belief is brought to vivid reality when a host of eccentric, benevolent characters invade his mechanical world, turning it upside down with their blend of poetry and humor. As the Seeker’s imagination ignites, his curios come to life in a spectacle that challenges us to close our eyes and unlock the wonders beneath the surface.

About the Show

KURIOS™ – Cabinet of Curiosities is a marvel of artistic and technical achievement. Featuring a cast of 49 artists from 17 countries, this production is a testament to the global reach and enduring appeal of Cirque du Soleil. Notably, about 60% of the artists have previously performed with Cirque, bringing a wealth of experience and familiarity to the production.

Ten Curious Facts About KURIOS

  1. Accordion Man’s Costume: The intricate costume took an entire week of sewing inside the garment by the costume maker.
  2. Mademoiselle Lili: Rima Hadchiti, who plays this role, is one of the world’s smallest individuals at 3.3 feet tall and 41 pounds.
  3. Mechanical Hand: This impressive prop weighs 750 pounds and measures 15 feet by 6.8 feet.
  4. Costume Creation: Over a hundred costumes were meticulously designed and crafted for the show.
  5. Props: KURIOS features 426 props, the most in any Cirque du Soleil production to date.
  6. Transportation: The show travels with close to 2,000 tons of equipment, transported by 65 trucks.
  7. Tour Members: The 122 tour members hail from 23 countries, with some having toured with Cirque for over 15 years.
  8. Welcoming Act: For the first time, Cirque du Soleil presents a welcoming act atop the Big Top, with artists greeting guests from above.
  9. Mr. Microcosmos’ Belly: This elaborate prop required approximately 250 hours to build.
  10. Make-up: Each performer is responsible for their own make-up, a process that can take between 40 minutes to two hours.

The Mobile Village

Cirque du Soleil’s mobile village for KURIOS includes the Big Top, an entrance tent, artistic tent, kitchen, offices, and warehouses. It is entirely self-sufficient for electrical power, relying only on local water supply and telecommunication facilities to support its infrastructure.
