SAQ Inspire Event | A Celebration of Champagne at Maison Principale
The SAQ Inspire Event, held at Maison Principale on December 2, was not just a sparkling wine tasting — it was a celebration of Champagne, a festive immersion into the world of bubbles and elegance. During a Saturday evening, one of Montreal’s most prestigious event venue was transformed into a luxurious realm where the finest Champagne producers showcased their exceptional cuvées.
As guests arrived, Maison Principale’s luxury event space – which boasts 42-foot ceilings, jaw-dropping architecture and 15 crystal chandeliers – immediately set the tone. Elegantly dressed attendees mingled in the vast hall, their excitement palpable. The organizers had clearly outdone themselves in creating an ambiance that perfectly complemented the signature of the evening’s offerings.
The event was a journey through the world of Champagne, featuring illustrious names like Deutz, Devaux, GH Mumm, Laurent-Perrier, Nicolas Feuillatte, Piper-Heidsieck, and Veuve Clicquot.
The highlight cuvées included the Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Extra brut, Laurent-Perrier Millisimé 2015, Champagne Deutz William Deutz Brut 2013, and Nicolas Feuillatte Palmes d’Or Brut 2008, among others.
Each producer offered a unique experience, showcasing the diversity and richness of Champagne. The evening was an enlightening journey, from the creamy and refined textures of Laurent-Perrier to the bold and expressive notes of Veuve Clicquot.
But this was more than a tasting. It was an educational experience. The SAQ workshops conducted by ITHQ experts were a revelation, offering insights into the effervescence of Champagne. These 20-minute sessions, complete with comparative tastings, were a hit among attendees, eagerly soaking up knowledge about their favorite bubbly.
The partnership with Air Canada added an exciting twist, with a photo booth and the chance to win a $2,000 gift card. Similarly, Vinum Design’s pop-up shop was a treasure trove for Champagne enthusiasts, offering everything from elegant flutes to sophisticated accessories.
Complementing the Champagne were gourmet stations and passed hors d’oeuvres, each bite meticulously paired with the bubbles. The culinary aspect was not merely an addition but an integral part of the experience, enhancing the flavors and adding to the overall sophistication of the event.
A SAQ Inspire Event to Remember
As the night concluded, attendees trickled out with more than just memories of a celebration of Champagne. They left with a deeper appreciation of the art of Champagne making, the subtleties of its flavors, and the joy of sharing such an experience with fellow connoisseurs. This SAQ Inspire Event at Maison Principale was a resounding success.
