Beauty Buzz for February | Beat the Beauty Blues with Fenty Beauty by Rihanna
Beauty Buzz is a little late this February, as I am on a path to beat the beauty blues with Fenty Beauty by Rihanna, accompanied by a curated selection of cosmetics to lift everybody’s spirits, and help us survive the tundra cold of our fair city.
The new releases in beauty are beginning to be announced and so many new products are on the horizon; many that I am already testing out for my upcoming stories, this should be an exciting year for beauty in general.
Last year, as I began my cosmetic writing assignments for Best Kept Montreal, I could never have imagined how intensely this beauty journey would end up changing my experience and my relationship with the cosmetic products I had taken for granted, as practical tools of my trade.
We are in a new era of cosmetics, an era where practicality is no longer the determining factor for purchasing makeup or skincare.
Certain products come in packages and components that make the product instantly desirable, a collector’s item, something to be admired and appreciated for its packaging alone; let alone the actual product it holds.
So many of the products I see and the brands launching have inclusive visions, with a dazzling number of foundation shades to suit every skin tone and packaging, designed to enhance the sensory experience of applying the product itself.
The Fenty Beauty Empire
Last summer I began trying out both Fenty Beauty by Rihanna and Fenty Skin for the first time and I won’t lie, I had reservations, simply because it was a celebrity brand. I decided to begin trying out the various products that were sent to me, so graciously, and I am a convert and fan, ever since.
Rihanna’s electrifying Half-Time Show at the Superbowl was the incredible reminder of her undeniable, musical legacy on our modern culture. Hit after hit, Rihanna kept the energy mounting and ended with her iconic song Diamonds, which gave me goosebumps and chills.
My favorite moment from that show was when she gave herself a quick check in her own brand’s Invismatte Instant Setting + Blotting Powder, this Fenty Beauty by Rihanna powder is killer and eliminates any unwanted shine; the white, sleek compact makes it chic in any purse or pocket, on-the-go.
However, my most recent favorite products from Fenty Beauty by Rihanna, are the newest additions to the family, the Fenty Icon The Fill Semi-Matte Refillable Lipstick; these lovely shades have wonderfully pigmented colors that wear beautifully on the lips and feel comfortable for long periods of time.
The Fenty Icon The Fill Semi-Matte Refillable Lipstick comes separately from its component, the Fenty Icon The Case Semi-Matte Refillable Lipstick, which is currently available in a nice variety of shades at Sephora.
Not only does the component itself have a playful mechanism to unleash the color, the creaminess of the texture of the product, as it spreads over the lips is a heavenly feeling; especially during these dry winter months.

L’Oréal Paris recently released their latest Telescopic Lift Mascara in a variety of shades and a Waterproof version as well. This brilliant mascara is a wonder to separate the lashes and give them great length and lift.
The L’Oréal Paris Telescopic Lift Mascara comes with a unique and thin, curved brush that works at separating the lashes and coating them individually versus clumping them together.
In my opinion, I find that L’Oréal Paris makes some of the best mascara formulations in the world. The products are always affordable and have great pigmentation and are easy to apply. When it comes to mascara, L’Oréal Paris is a true pioneer and leader in the beauty industry.

Do not let such thoughts sit with you too long, this is a great time to do little things to make yourself happy, little attentions to improve your mood or well-being and give yourself some love.
Sometimes we need a little retail therapy to indulge ourselves in a little newness to brush away the dull blah of the winter blues; sometimes we only need to treat ourselves kindlier and allow ourselves more grace to get through the colder and more trying times.
So go out there and do you, be yourself and make yourself happy, whenever I have a bad day, I love cranking out some Madonna on my Spotify and I begin playing with my favorite makeup pieces; it helps me to reconnect to my present moment and enjoy one of my biggest passions.
So next time you’re feeling a little down, give yourself some self-indulgence and some beauty time, you’ll be amazed how it can brighten your mood and lift your spirits, and before we know it Spring will arrive and begin thawing us out again to live wildly, all through next summer.
