Bal des Tannants Gala Raised $1.5M for The Montreal Children’s

On Friday, May 12, the spotlights were on the sold-out 22nd edition of the Bal des tannants for the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, a night mixing jetset glamour and delightful brattiness. With over 700 guests, a record $1.5 million raised for the Healthy Kids Fund, and an unforgettable after-party, it was the talk of the town and for good reason.

Under the masterful stewardship of honourary co-presidents, Isabelle Marcoux and Kim Thomassin, the Bal des tannants gala was a spectacular show of solidarity. High-profile guests included Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly; and Québec Minister of Health, Christian Dubé.

The crème de la crème of Montreal society united under the soaring arches of Hangar Starlink Aviation, a place less accustomed to swanky shindings…

In an era where charity galas often lean towards the predictable, the Bal des tannants flipped the script, serving a dash of ‘fun’draising with a side of sass. The dress code? Glamorous with a twist of brattiness, of course.

Guests mixed elegance with the energy of a kid on a sugar rush – envision sticky lollipops accessorising updos, shoes that made it seem like their owners got dressed in the dark, and sunglasses so outrageous even Elton John would blush.

Mouthwatering delights were served courtesy of Ristorante Beatrice, with guests swaying to the vintage vibes of Paul Chacra’s 1945 The Band, and a heart-stopping after-party, with DJ YO-C spinning the decks into the wee hours.

It was less a charity gala and more a rip-roaring celebration of childhood – because let’s face it, every healthy kid can be a bit of a brat sometimes.

“I am overwhelmed at the outpouring of generosity for our young patients,” confessed Renée Vézina, President of the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation; echoing the sentiments of all those involved in this unique event.

Indeed, the Bal des tannants did more than just raise funds for The Children’s. It proved that in Montreal, we can come together, break out our fanciest attire, and let loose our inner child – all for a good cause.

Because after all, in the words of the great Pablo Picasso, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.” And last night, 700 grown-ups found the solution, in the most spectacular way.
