Alice in Montreal High Tea Land! A Whimsical Trip Into The Trending PAPARMANE Tea Room

Tucked away in the cobblestone charm of Old Montreal, Paparmane is not your grandmother’s tea room—but she’d definitely approve. This whimsical spot reinvents high tea in Montreal with a style that feels refreshingly modern yet unapologetically timeless. It’s where vintage meets vogue, and where your tea ritual turns into a chic celebration. Described as Alice in Wonderland meets the Bridgerton, I can see why..

Walking into Paparmane feels like stepping into an Instagram-worthy daydream. The decor is a love letter to antique elegance—think velvet accents, gold-framed curios, and handpicked vintage pieces that whisper stories of another era. But there’s a cool, contemporary undercurrent running through it all that makes the space feel effortlessly on-trend rather than stuck in time. Also if it’s one of those unmotivating grey MTL days, you won’t notice inside the windowless wonderland of soft lighting and wall-to-wall visual troves!

High Tea, Elevated even higher!

Paparmane’s high tea isn’t just about sipping Earl Grey—it’s about savoring moments. Their tea menu is a passport to global indulgence, featuring everything from delicate floral oolongs to robust black blends. Whether you’re a die-hard tea snob or a curious sipper, the expert staff has a knack for matching you with your perfect cup. We chose Old Montreal & White Wisdom. We chose Great Wisdom & Old Montreal “Breakfast“. Both were true to their decriptions.

But let’s be honest—the real scene-stealer here is the food. The tower of delights is a visual feast and a culinary masterpiece: airy scones with Devonshire cream and preserves, finger sandwiches that balance tradition with a creative twist, and pastries that are as photogenic as they are delicious. My favorite things to eat was the mini chicken salad club sandwich and gingerbread man. The scones were great but that’s not a hard promise for a high tea room!

Why We’re Obsessed

Paparmane’s magic is in the details—every plate, pour, and pastry feels like a thoughtful touchpoint in a story about indulgence. The service is warm but competent without being overbearing, and the vibe? Luxe but laid-back. It’s the kind of place where you can casually rock your best vintage finds or go full glam—anything goes, as long as you’re ready to sip and savor.

And that Old Montreal backdrop? Major bonus points. After wandering the historic streets, stepping into Paparmane feels like uncovering a secret oasis. It’s intimate but never stuffy—a place where tea time transcends the cliché and becomes an experience worth writing home (or blogging) about.

If you’re on the hunt for high tea in Montreal that blends sophistication with a splash of cool, Paparmane is the destination you didn’t know you needed. Trust us: your taste buds—and your Instagram feed—will thank you.
