Presented by the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) as the centerpiece of its 120th anniversary celebrations and 94th General Assembly, LEGACY arrives at Théâtre Outremont on Saturday, October 17, 2026, bringing together contemporary pop, classical music, Armenian folk traditions, dance and live visual art for one ambitious multidisciplinary performance.

And while Armenian heritage is very much at its heart, this isn’t an evening designed exclusively for the Armenian community. Think of it instead as a cultural collision — internationally recognized musicians from dramatically different worlds sharing one Montreal stage.
Meet the Artists of LEGACY
Armenian singer and violinist Inga Arshakyan gained international recognition representing Armenia at Eurovision 2009 as part of Inga & Anush. Her signature sound blends Armenian folk traditions with contemporary pop and jazz.
Internationally acclaimed cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan won First Prize and Gold Medal at the prestigious XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition. He has since performed with leading orchestras across Europe and North America.
Award-winning Armenian oboist Hayk Hekekyan is an exciting talent from a new generation of classical musicians. His international competition successes span Armenia, Sweden, Spain, Russia and beyond.
Emmanuel Hovhannisyan is a master of the haunting Armenian duduk and several traditional wind instruments. Trained at the Yerevan Conservatory, his performances bridge Armenian folk heritage and classical music.
Grammy-nominated, two-time Juno-winning pianist, composer and arranger Serouj Kradjian has performed from Carnegie Hall to concert stages worldwide. His work is celebrated for crossing musical and cultural boundaries.
Syrian-Armenian visual artist Kevork Mourad creates extraordinary live drawings and animation in dialogue with music. His collaborations include Yo-Yo Ma, with performances and exhibitions at Carnegie Hall, The Met and other major institutions.
The Navasard Folk Project brings the rich sounds and traditions of Armenian folk music to the LEGACY stage. The ensemble connects generations by bringing historic musical traditions vividly into the present.
Armenian-American singer, songwriter and producer Sebu Simonian is one half of Capital Cities, the indie-pop duo behind the worldwide hit Safe and Sound. He brings a contemporary global-pop energy to LEGACY.
Soprano Armine Vardanyan has performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall and Alice Tully Hall. Her repertoire spans Armenian musical heritage and the broader classical canon.
A Genre of its own
LEGACY creates a genre all its own, weaving contemporary pop, classical virtuosity, Armenian folk traditions, live visual art and dance into one immersive cultural experience.
The artists will be joined by the AGBU Montreal Garni Dance Ensemble and AGBU Stars Children’s Choir, transforming the evening into a true multidisciplinary celebration.
That may ultimately be what makes LEGACY particularly interesting: there isn’t one obvious musical category to put it in.
Pop meets cello. Classical soprano meets duduk. Armenian folk traditions meet contemporary arrangements. Music meets dance, while Kevork Mourad creates imagery live alongside it all.
At its heart, LEGACY explores what happens when heritage isn’t simply preserved, but reinterpreted by artists working across countries, generations and disciplines.
And in multicultural Montreal, it’s hard to imagine a more fitting stage for it.
