Top 5 Montreal Art Exhibits & Vernissages This Weekend 🎨✨
Looking for the best art openings, exhibitions, and cultural happenings in Montreal this weekend? From a massive new artist-run hub launching in Ahuntsic to immersive digital art, abstract masterpieces, and intimate gallery vernissages, here’s your guide to the city’s most exciting visual arts events from June 11–13, 2026.
1. LAB-545 Grand Opening & SIGHT + SOUND Festival
📍 Ateliers Belleville – 545 Rue Legendre Ouest, Montréal
🗺️ https://maps.google.com/?q=545+Rue+Legendre+Ouest+Montreal
📅 June 11–13, 2026

The most anticipated arts opening of the season is undoubtedly the launch of LAB-545, a new independent artist-owned cultural hub housed within Ateliers Belleville.
Created as a multidisciplinary ecosystem bringing together artist studios, exhibition spaces, production workshops, and artist residencies, LAB-545 represents an important addition to Montreal’s cultural landscape. To celebrate the inauguration, Ateliers Belleville has partnered with Eastern Bloc and its renowned digital arts festival SIGHT + SOUND for three days of festivities featuring more than sixty artists.
Visitors can explore artist studios, exhibitions, guided tours, creative workshops, and a large-scale group exhibition featuring works by member artists. As night falls, the focus shifts toward audiovisual performances and experimental digital art experiences presented by SIGHT + SOUND.
The festivities begin with an invitation-only cocktail reception on June 11 before culminating with an electronic music celebration on June 13.
Why go? Because openings of this scale rarely happen, especially when artists themselves own and operate the space.
2. Vent Bleu at Fondation Guido Molinari
📍 Fondation Guido Molinari – 3290 Rue Sainte-Catherine Est, Montréal
🗺️ https://maps.google.com/?q=3290+Rue+Sainte-Catherine+Est+Montreal
📅 June 11, 2026 | 6 PM – 8 PM

One of Montreal’s most significant exhibitions this summer arrives at the Fondation Guido Molinari with Vent Bleu.
At the heart of the exhibition is Guido Molinari’s monumental masterpiece Vent Bleu, a remarkable abstract polyptych presented in a semicircular installation. On exceptional loan from the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the work returns to the very space where it was originally presented more than thirty years ago.
The exhibition expands beyond painting through performances, poetry, meditation, music, yoga, and contemporary artistic interventions inspired by the symbolism of wind as movement, energy, transformation, and breath.
Artists Maude Arès and Anne-Marie Proulx contribute compelling works alongside performances by Erin Hill, Nina Vroemen, and Mykalle Bielinski.
This promises to be one of the most memorable vernissages of the season.
3. Ravauder l’invisible at Galerie Wishbone
📍 Galerie Wishbone – Belgo Building, Suite 406, Montréal
🗺️ https://maps.google.com/?q=372+Rue+Sainte-Catherine+Ouest+Montreal
📅 June 11, 2026 | 5 PM – 9 PM

Galerie Wishbone continues its reputation for thoughtful and engaging exhibitions with Ravauder l’invisible.
Curated by Gabrielle Poliquin, the exhibition explores concepts of repair, resilience, memory, and transformation through the work of Erin Frost (Mexico), Benjamin Perron (Canada), Niina Villanueva (Finland), and Janna Yotte (Canada).
Rather than viewing repair as a return to an original state, the exhibition proposes healing as a process of embracing imperfections and lived experiences.
As always, Wishbone’s welcoming atmosphere, dedicated collectors, and strong artistic community make its vernissages among the most enjoyable in the city.
Expect excellent conversations and a crowd that often stays long after the official closing time.
4. Éphémère at Galerie L’Onyx
📍 Galerie L’Onyx – 6400 Boulevard Monk, Montréal
🗺️ https://maps.google.com/?q=6400+Boulevard+Monk+Montreal
📅 June 13, 2026 | 1 PM – 5 PM

For those seeking a more intimate Saturday afternoon experience, Galerie L’Onyx presents Éphémère, featuring Dominique Sarrazin and Jou Lee.
Sarrazin’s abstract paintings draw inspiration from the forests of Quebec’s Eastern Townships and the Pacific coastline of Costa Rica. Her layered surfaces, textures, and collages evoke dreamlike landscapes emerging from memory and subconscious exploration.
Alongside her, gallery director Jou Lee presents vibrant mixed-media works combining encaustic, watercolor, oil, acrylic, and pastel techniques into dynamic compositions filled with movement and colour.
Known for its warm atmosphere and engaged community, Galerie L’Onyx consistently hosts some of the friendliest vernissages in Montreal.
5. Antemortem by Francis Montillaud
📍 Hangar 7826 – 7826 Rue Foucher, Montréal
🗺️ https://maps.google.com/?q=7826+Rue+Foucher+Montreal
📅 June 13, 2026 | 2 PM – 5 PM

Closing out the weekend is Antemortem, a compelling installation by Francis Montillaud at Hangar 7826.
Montillaud’s multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture, installation, video, and public art. For this exhibition, he transforms the space into what resembles a suspended construction site filled with remnants of previous public art projects.
The result is a fascinating environment where decay and growth coexist, creating an archaeological landscape overtaken by mysterious vegetation.
The installation extends across multiple levels of the venue, creating an experience that feels both contemplative and unsettling.
Combined with Hangar 7826’s unique alleyway setting and outdoor gathering space, this vernissage offers one of the most distinctive artistic experiences of the weekend.
Stay Connected to the Art Scene
This weekend’s lineup perfectly captures the diversity of Montreal’s contemporary art scene. Whether you’re interested in digital experimentation, abstraction, immersive installations, artist-run initiatives, or emerging gallery spaces, there is no shortage of inspiring exhibitions to discover.
My top pick? LAB-545 and the SIGHT + SOUND celebrations. The combination of artist ownership, community building, digital art, and large-scale programming makes it one of the most important cultural openings of the year.
