The event will feature four rooms with a distinct musical vibe. The line-up is stacked with talent! My top pics in the TECHNO room are Mat Moebius, Tom H and Xaenomorph, In the PSY TRANCE room, check out Enakim, Zentrix, Rikam and Ben Solo. In the DRUM N BASS room don’t miss Crimewave, XS, Stlkr, Dinzy, Jeska and Tigrou! In the CHILLOUT room vibe with Semira, Prana Papa and Rook Permanence.

In terms of the visuals, the elaborate decor has been video mapped and top VJ’s like Pumpkin will be breathing life into the space! But that’s not all. From hands-on art workshops to pop-up snack bars serving Instagram-worthy treats, there’s plenty to explore between dance breaks. Plus, you’ll get to meet some of the artists behind the magic!

THIEVERY CORPORATION
A Genre-Bending Journey
From Downtempo to Global Rhythms, They’re Still Redefining the Sound

🎶 Date: Saturday, March 6

MTELUS
📫 Address:

What more can I say about Thievery Corporation that I didn’t already cover in my 2019 concert review? Back then, I highlighted how they reshaped trip-hop, moving beyond the moody “illbient” Bristol sound pioneered by contemporaries like Massive Attack, Tricky, Portishead, and Morcheeba.

So, why not quote myself?

“Like many of their fans, I first discovered them due to Kruder & Dorfmeister’s “DJ Kicks” album in 1996 that included Thievery Corpoaration’s single Shaolin Satellite. This helped to ignite a worldwide buzz about their debut album Songs From The Thievery Hi-Fi. The following year their anthemic single Lebanese Blonde led to an explosion of popularity for the band.

In the decades since, Thievery Corporation has left their peers in the dust, releasing ten more stellar full-length albums and over thirty singles. They remain impossible to pigeonhole, blending: Downtempo Electronica, Acid Jazz, Breakbeat, Funk, Dub Reggae & Dancehall, Hip Hop, and Bossa Nova combined with Indian Raga, North African & Middle Eastern music.”

And let’s not forget their multilingual approach. Thievery Corporation’s lyrics flow in English, French, Romanian, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese, Farsi, and Italian. It’s not just about the sound—it’s about substance.

Their politically conscious lyrics add gravity to their grooves, reflecting their commitment to human rights, anti-war activism, anti-globalization, and the fight against world hunger. During their last show, they even joked about how some band members first crossed paths at protests in front of the White House.

A Thievery Corporation show is more than a standard concert —it’s an immersive journey through sound, culture, and consciousness. Backed by a full band, their live shows are a kaleidoscope of rhythm and soul, with live drums, sitar, percussion, keyboards, guitar, horns, and an ever-changing lineup of guest vocalists.

It’s a celebration of global music, where dub basslines meet bossa nova grooves, whee hypnotic middle eastern beats and sitar drones intertwine with soaring vocal melodies. It’s a dance floor, a meditation space, and a cultural crossroads all at once.

Because Thievery Corporation isn’t just a concert—it’s a journey of exploration, a passport to worlds both inner and outer.

Based on the audience participation the judges will award bragging rights to the winner. Rewinds are permitted if the crowd insists!

To add a little spice to the lineup, DJ’s from different cities will be going head to head ! Civic pride is on the line!

ADRIAN YOUNGE

Renowned composer and sonic architect Adrian Younge is set to bring his critically acclaimed Something About April trilogy to the stage like never before—backed by a 10-piece orchestra. From the original Something About April to his latest release, São Paulo, Younge’s live performance promises an immersive, cinematic journey through his signature blend of analog soul and psychedelic rock.

An Emmy Award-winning composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, Younge has shaped the sound of contemporary music while staying rooted in the warmth of vintage analog recording. His music has been sampled by hip-hop’s elite—including Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar, Common, DJ Premier, and Alchemist—and he’s produced for legends such as Snoop Dogg, Rakim, The Delfonics, Roy Ayers, and Wu-Tang Clan.

Beyond production, Younge’s influence extends to film and television, crafting scores for Marvel’s Luke Cage and cult classic Black Dynamite. He’s also the visionary behind Linear Labs and co-founder of the record label and events collective Jazz Is Dead.

For Younge, this tour is the realization of a long-held artistic vision:

“The Something About April Tour is the show I’ve always dreamed of bringing to life. Fifteen years in the making, the Something About April trilogy is my magnum opus—a body of work designed for the most cinematic and live experience.”

The first installment of the trilogy introduced Younge’s signature aesthetic—an intoxicating fusion of raw, analog soul and the hypnotic textures of psychedelic rock, evoking the haunting atmospheres of Ennio Morricone’s best film scores and the sonic explorations of early Pink Floyd.

With Something About April II, Younge expanded his vision, bridging dark, gritty soul with the grandeur of classic European cinema. Featuring an eclectic lineup of vocalists—including Laetitia Sadier (Stereolab), Bilal, Raphael Saadiq, Loren Oden, and Karolina—the album channels ghostly chants and orchestral movements into a genre-defying masterpiece.

His latest chapter, Something About April III, is the culmination of years of artistic excavation:

“SAA III is the album that has taken me fifteen years to uncover and fully realize. From a cratedigger’s perspective, it’s the album I’ve been digging for in the deepest crates of my soul—a lost album I finally found.”

Adding to the night’s energy, the event will also feature an all-vinyl B2B DJ set from Montreal’s own Andy Williams and Kris Guilty. A pillar of the city’s music scene, Williams is one-half of Jazz Amnesty Sound System (with DJ Luv), one-half of The Goods (with Scott C), and the host of the influential CKUT 90.3 FM radio show, The Magic Roundabout.

This is more than a concert—it’s a sonic odyssey through the mind of one of today’s most forward-thinking musicians. Younge stands at the forefront of modern musical vanguardism, reinterpreting the past to craft the sound of the future. Don’t miss the chance to experience it live!

Batiment 7’s Annual Fundraiser :
Defying Gentrification & Amplifying Art

📅Date: March 29

Batiment 7

Tucked away in an industrial corner of Pointe Ste Charles. Bâtiment 7 stands as a beacon of resistance against gentrification—a self-run artist co-op that’s rewriting the rules. After a decade of mobilization, the local residents took control of their fate in 2017, securing this massive space as a refuge for creativity, collaboration, and community. No more Réno-victions, no more displacement—just an artist-powered ecosystem thriving on its own terms.

And now, it’s time to celebrate that spirit with EQUINOX 7 their annual fundraiser—part party, part artistic revolution. If last year’s event was any indication (the party was still raging at 8 AM!), this year is set to be an all-night odyssey of music, performance, and immersive art.

A Lineup That Hits Every Vibe

Prepare for an eclectic mix of live acts, DJs, and an experimental electro acoustic performance, featuring:

🎵 Azulat, Christina Enigma, Deadliner,  Émilie Clepper, Icky Magdala, Jacques Bertrand Junior, Matriöchka, Ol’ Savannah, Ptite Peste B2B Terrible, Saule, Sentai Dub Attack!, Tartare, SODA KIDS, KRAD, Sasha Sol, Deep N Acid, DJ Chacha and me DJ Guapo !

There will be Art Installations, Stunning Décor, and captivating Burlesque and Circus performances by :

🎭 Circus Mobil-Us, Désirée, Duchesse de Seintille, Enfants Sales, Gazoline, J-String Art, Mondame Moustache, LaFôv, Tek Crew, Lady Magpie, Léa Marnier, Lysandre Murphy-Gauthier, MR.GREY (Pinkcloud_Crew), Tournesol, Vieux Motard que J’aimais, and VJ Brouillard will transform the space into a multi-sensory wonderland.

More Than Just a Party

From family-friendly programming (5-9 PM) to after-hours burlesque, circus performances, and a boudoir lounge, the night is stacked with experiences. Photography exhibits, open studios, and hands-on workshops (think circus arts, body painting, collective sculptures, and yes, even dildo painting) will blur the line between artist and audience.

A silent auction will showcase work from resident artists. All of the fundraising activities will benefit B7’s community initiatives like the grocery co-op, La Fermette where they grow food and raise chickens, the Sans Taverne Brewery, the art school & workshop programs, the car & bicycle mechanic garage etc… This highlights their deeper mission: creating a sustainable, inclusive space for the community to thrive. In that spirit they invited the health professionals from GRIP to create a harm reduction sanctuary to keep everyone safe at the event!

Get Involved!

🎟️ Tickets are just $45, but they won’t stay that way for long! If you can, donate more or even volunteer—supporting spaces like Bâtiment 7 isn’t just about keeping the party going, it’s about keeping the beating heart of the city alive.

This is a cause that is near and dear to my heart as I lost my recording studio in Mile End due to the forces of gentrification. So I am overjoyed to be DJ’ing there again this year! If you’ve ever been pushed out by rising rents, watched a creative hub disappear, or just believe in the power of art, music, and community, this is the night to show up. See you there!
