Taking place on September 19, 2024, at 8:00 PM at Place des Arts’ Cinquième Salle, this event will feature two-time JUNO Award-winning vocalist Caity Gyorgy, interpreting the iconic works of Irving Berlin. This concert, a harmonious blend of the Great American Songbook and jazz legacy, promises to deliver an unforgettable evening for music lovers.

Jean-Nicolas Trottier, the musical director of ONJ, expressed his excitement about the season’s opener: “We are thrilled to open our season with such a powerful tribute to Ella Fitzgerald. Caity Gyorgy’s incredible ability to interpret Irving Berlin’s repertoire, while honoring Fitzgerald’s legacy, will make this concert a truly remarkable experience.”

Gyorgy’s bebop and swing mastery have taken her to prestigious jazz festivals and clubs across Canada and internationally. Collaborating with top-tier musicians like Christine Jensen and Pat LaBarbera, she has solidified her place in the jazz world. For Gyorgy, this tribute to Ella Fitzgerald is a personal milestone: “Performing Fitzgerald’s work is a dream come true. Her interpretation of Irving Berlin’s music left an indelible mark on jazz history, and it’s a privilege to share this tribute with Montreal.”
