Martinique Gourmande Festival 2024 | A Taste of the Tropics in the Heart of MTL
Get ready, Montreal foodies! From September 10 to 22, the Martinique Gourmande Festival is back for its 17th edition, bringing the vibrant flavors of the Isle of Flowers right to our doorstep. Under the theme “Back to Our Roots,” this year’s festival promises a culinary journey through Martinique’s rich gastronomy, featuring special menus, cocktails, and desserts at over 40 establishments across Quebec.
A Gourmet Tour Like No Other
For 12 delightful days, the sun-soaked tastes of Martinique will infuse the menus of some of Montreal’s finest restaurants and bars. Each participating venue will offer a signature dish or drink inspired by Martinique’s culinary heritage.
Some of the Montreal hotspots you won’t want to miss include Restaurant Kamúy in downtown Montreal, Le Monarque in Old Montreal, and Le Molière par Mousso in Quartier Latin.
These establishments, among others, invite you to savor dishes that meld Caribbean spices with Quebecois flair. Whether it’s a spicy jerk chicken, a refreshing rum cocktail, or a decadent coconut dessert, there’s something to tantalize every palate.
The Créole Market: A Festive Must-Attend Event
Mark your calendars for September 14 and 15 when the Créole Market transforms the Grand Quay of the Port of Montreal Pavilion into a vibrant Caribbean oasis. This family-friendly event offers free admission and a host of activities:
– Culinary Booths: Sample iconic dishes crafted by four renowned chefs flown in from Martinique.

Meet the Chefs from Martinique
The festival proudly hosts four guest chefs who will bring authentic Martinique flavors to Montreal:

– Sébastien Birba: Chef at Hôtel Simon
These culinary artists will showcase their expertise, offering festival-goers a genuine taste of Martinique’s gastronomic excellence.
A Celebration with a Cause
Martinique Gourmande isn’t just about indulging in delicious food; it’s also about giving back. In partnership with Cuisines Solidaires by Tablée des Chefs, the festival will produce 5,000 portions of a Martinique-inspired meal to support Quebec families in need. This year’s dish, created by Chef Jérémie Jean Baptiste, features Martinique-style marinated pulled chicken, sweet potato salad, and madras sauce. You can contribute by donating to Tablée des Chefs through the festival’s website.
