While COVID-19 has disheveled the world, the fashion industry is feeling the effects in a hard way. The coronavirus outbreak has caused national brands to shut down stores indefinitely, including household names Simons, Hudson’s Bay, Aldo, and cancelling major festivals, still months away like Fashion & Design Festival, the largest outdoor festival of its kind in North America.

But as humanity grapples with a new reality, Canadian fashion and beauty brands are making adjustments from producing clothes to manufacturing protective masks, gowns, and other supplies to flatten the virus curve. With so many forward thinking initiatives taking place the one which caught Best Kept MTL’s eye was the casual streetwear brand Kuwalla Tee offering a monetary solution to soften the blow from the pandemic COVID-19.

While the government is only providing partial financial support the founders at Kuwalla Tee Yaniv, Dan and Oren Abecassis decided to share 30% of its online sales through its kuwallatee.com website with retailers who distribute its collections across Canada until May 1, 2020.  They will also be offering a 25% discount Site-Wide on their new Spring-Summer collection for new and existing clients!

Through this initiative, Kuwalla Tee wishes to contribute to the collective effort to support the fashion and retail industry during this difficult period and encourage consumers to give preference to local purchasing. The Abecassis brothers hope that the #cometogether campaign launched will encourage other Canadian brands and companies to join the movement.

“We care about supporting the retailers who have distributed our brand on a sustained basis for years. The period we are going through is an ideal time to act in solidarity,” say founders of Kuwalla Tee.

Since its launch, Kuwalla Tee has remained faithful to its modest origins. The brand’s vision is intended to be inclusive and aware. Its clothing collections, which combine comfort and quality, perfect for a time like this, contributes to affirm the consumer’s singularity and enhance self-expression. They reflect the values of its customers, particularly the fact of being active, expressive, creative, trendy and, above all, equal.

The Abecassis brothers have been committed to protecting the environment for many years. Aware that they could do more for the environment than simply recycling fabric, they became associated with 1% For the Planet, a non-profit organization founded by Patagonia, through which they pay 1% of their annual sales to environmental protection organizations.

About Kuwalla Tee, Our FAVE Montreal Streetwear

Kuwalla Tee was inspired by its founders’ exasperation with cheap t-shirt assortments and their unconditional love of basics. In May 2012, the Abecassis brothers launched their first premium 3-pack tees made of recycled cotton salvaged during the production process.  Since then, Kuwalla has grown into a ready-to-wear clothing label, focused on delivering the best quality basics on the market. By using only the best materials and fabrics, the brand designs essential items that are timeless and comfortable for everyday.

Kuwalla Tee’s mascot, subtly embroidered on all its garments, stems from its founders’ love and respect for Mother Nature. All their products are created with the greatest concern for the environment, trying to minimize waste wherever possible.
