212 | New Chic Italianesque Restaurant Opens in Old Montreal
Closed since 2018, the space that used to house the Accords wine bar — located at 212 Notre-Dame Street West in Old Montreal — underwent a complete transformation and opened during the fall of 2020 as a chic Italianesque restaurant under the name 212.
With Chef and partner Pat Marion in charge of the kitchen, you can expect world-class local cuisine. He has developed an Italian-inspired menu made of local and artisanal ingredients where everything will be made by hand, including fresh pasta of course.
The 212 menu will follow the seasons in order to serve ingredients that are always fresh and flavourful.
A 12th Round Hospitality project imagined by Brooke Walsh and Trevor Coulton, the space, which holds 85 seated inside and 60 outside, was co-designed by photographer Scott Pilgrim.
The lighting in 212 is designed to evolve throughout the day. The space has the ability to transition from daylight to dusk and even a late night party performance for those who want to stick around and enjoy a cocktail designed by Kevin Demers of Cold Room, or a bottle of wine curated by somm Alexis Demers of Le Mousso and Menu Extra.
The attention to detail is not limited to the interior. 212 is one of the few fortunate locations in the Old Port of Montreal to have a beautiful built-in terrace.
Both the entry tunnel and terrace showcase installations from two different Canadian artists, Trevor Wheatley and Adam Hummell;
each continue the theme of evolving the space from day to night.
Most would agree that opening a new high end restaurant during a global pandemic is less than ideal. But the 12th Round Hospitality group have chosen to go all in instead of folding their hand and quitting. Finishing the development of the space during this time of physical distancing has allowed 212 to take safety measures into account without compromising its appeal.
