VELVET Reborn | Auberge St-Gabriel’s Underground Speakeasy Turns 10
It’s been 10 years since the legendary speakeasy VELVET first lured fans of electro, techno and house music down a stone hallway into an underground hideaway. For the occasion, the nightclub located in the basement of the historic Auberge Saint-Gabriel has a new look and prepares colorful festivities from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th of September.
A new decor
To mark its 10 year anniversary, VELVET is offering a major transformation orchestrated by the BRAUN-BRAËN interior design firm. The new design pays tribute to the soul and beauty of historic places.
“By enhancing the presence of 18th century stone walls, mainly lantern-lit, and redefining the flow of traffic, the customer’s experience is completely renewed,” says designer Bruno Braën.
Two bars have been set up, including one specializing in cocktails with original and unique creations in addition to adding lights and lasers to enhance the nightlife experience.

As one of Montreal’s trendiest nightlife destinations year after year, the VELVET is also the perfect meeting place for racing drivers during the F1 Grand Prix festivities in Montreal; as well as several international personalities, including Bono, Mick Jagger, Sophie Turner, Rza and Jennifer Lawrence. Exceptional sound quality and special events continue to make VELVET a must-go-to hot spot.
