This weekend, hailing from Vancouver BC, AmBASSadors of the West, and heavyweight champions of all that is FUNK! I give you, the Funk Hunters!
Guilty of bringing the soul back to EDM, Nick Middleton and Duncan Smith have come a long way as the dynamic duo known as the Funk Hunters. Last year, they released an amazing EP collaborating with Chali 2na of Jurassic 5 who calls them “the Selectahs of the Century”. Having toured with him globally across 16 countries and playing at renowned festivals such as Burning Man, Coachella, Shambhala, and most recently Montreal’s own Osheaga. I feel humbled to welcome these fellas to Le Belmont December 2nd.
What better way to bring in the holidays then some dirty bass and groovy beats.
To everyone that has been bumpin the Shambhala mix AND our latest song with @weareliinks over the weekend, we appreciate you so much!!! ❤️ More new Music on the way and Funk The Halls kicks off Wednesday in Toronto!! 🎅🏿🎉 #shambhala2017 #fractalforest #funkthehalls 📸 @a_straughn

I myself am a born and raised East Van baby, and these guys make me proud to call Vancouver home. Watching them grow from a local act to international recognition has been like watching a fairytale unfold. Modern day Rockstars, I’ve caught the Funk Hunters 5 times over the years and have yet to experience a more energetic performance. The reception these boys get back home is INSANE! Selling out two days in a row at Vancouver’s largest club, the Commodore Ballroom, 3 years in a row.
Now, kicking off their Funk the Halls tour in Toronto this week and the next stop? Le Belmont, Montreal!
To get an idea of their sound try to Imagine the Funk Hunters were a cake. It would be a careful mixture of Groovy Bass Lines and heavy Dub. All baked to perfection and sprinkled with a healthy mixture of D&B and Hip Hop. It would then be served to you, drenched in Thick…Syrupy…..Funk Sauce!
Last week they released their annual Shambhala Fractal Forest mix. Give it a listen and expect to get weird stares on the metro because you will be bustin that booty in public.
A classic Venue for the Montreal Bass Music Scene, Le Belmont has hosted all your favourite artists such as Snails, and Black Tiger Sex Machine. Over the years they have been promoting all that is Dub and Wub with nights such as Bass Drive Wednesdays hosting local and international talent. I am so excited to welcome the Funk Hunters to Montreals home of Bass. Residents of the Fractal Forest at Shambhala these boys know how to party! Their shows often feature custom curated visuals and live musical acts for a multimedia sensational explosion of flavour. And dont come too late or you will miss the handpicked openers of Pineo and Loeb, signed toWestwoood Recordings the Funk Hunters very own Record Label founded in 2013. Talent all around this Saturday its going to be a long night!
