St-Jean Baptiste | Friday’s Free Sunset Grooves & Live Art!
…followed by 9 hours of a state-of-the-art rave, for this who want to continue their night.
The summer solstice is upon us, which means now is an ideal time to soak up the sun, live it up in the outdoors, enjoy time with your friends, and most importantly, do all of these things while grooving out to some of Montreal’s greatest local electronic music talents. Looking for all of these things summed up into one evening (and possibly more?). You’re in luck. Abandoned just announced a free addition to this Friday’s 13 hour Abandoned Factory 2.0 rave that you truly won’t want to miss.
Here are the deets

From 7PM – 11PM, the series’ outdoor stage will be free to the public for 4 hours of grooving, local sounds ranging from deep house to techno! You read that right: 4 hours of free music and incredible vibes to celebrate one of the longest, sunniest evenings of the year (with some of the best people!). As the party unfolds, we’ll enjoy live mural painting by local street artists Waxhead and Cryote. The Abandoned series has taken us through several diverse adventures through music in a variety of unique sound spaces; churches, warehouses, and boathouses. What better way to kick off St-Jean in the Factory featuring International artists than this weekend’s chillest sunset party?
Groove out to some VS. sun(sets)
These 4 hours of amazing vibes and musical bliss will be brought to you by two back to back sets by four of our stellar local DJs. Artphorm and In2deep from L’Enfant Terribles Records will deliver all the captivating, beautiful grooves we need to get the night started off right. Jimmy Be vs. Adam Husa will also take the decks and bring the beats for the most unforgettable summer sunset vibes.
Did I mention there’s a BBQ?
You didn’t think the Abandoned team would forget about the staple feature of a true sunset party, right? Hamburgers will be flipped, hot dogs will be roasted, and the knobs on the mixer are gonna be hot as we dance throughout the evening and into the night. What isn’t there to enjoy about deep house, your favorite people, artists, and BBQ? Word on the street is there might even be some body painting, visual art displays, graffiti, and more…the surprises just keep coming!
And this is just the beginning…
If you choose to venture inside the Factory after 11, be prepared for an assembly line of your favorite local and international names; all spinning inside an industrial environment that would make any true raver’s heart sing. This Factory ambiance will be curated by D&D aka UNDFND & PRML (Ground Factory Records), Hicky & Kalo (Plaisirs Sonores Records), OKIN (Kontrast Montreal), Rafa Pineda (8day), and Shades of Blk, playing against a geometric trip of a backdrop operated by VJ Bubun (AVX Lab) all night long.
The cherry on top? Abandoned has invited UNDERHER for a live set (wow), and the one and only Tim Green (Cocoon, Cityfox) to deconstruct our minds and assemble them back together again, piece by piece.
So let’s review…

Abandoned Church Recap
Amazing vibes, music, people, food, and art. All in all, this is going to be an evening for the books…and the welcome party will only just be the precursor to what’s in store inside the Factory. Have some friends who haven’t caught the Abandoned fever yet? This is the sundown sesh that will have them hooked indefinitely. The best part again? The early evening is free.
Strap on your dancing shoes, and come ready for some beets and BBQ. This is the sunset party you’ll ultimately regret missing. As for now…I’ll see you all, faces old and new, on the dancefloor!
