On Friday, October 18, more than 1000 young professionals attended the much-anticipated Urban Ball of Let’s Bond 2019, a fundraising gala for mental health, at the majestic Le Salon 1861, in Montreal’s Griffintown neighborhood. 485 000$ were raised by the event, with large portions donated to the Fondation Jeunes en Tête and the Douglas Foundation.

This year’s theme TAJ LAKE PALACE enabled guests to travel to an exotic universe inspired by the 1983 James Bond movie Octopussy. Canapés prepared by Montreal’s leading restaurants and a high-end open bar experience were offered during the entirety of the night. Let’s Bond 2019 was an opportunity for guests to go all out by wearing Bond-style outfits — from the subtle to the glamorous to the exotic.

Mission: Possible!

In order to stimulate and sustain a dialogue around mental illness, Let’s Bond is a Montreal collective of young professionals that organize two major annual events: 1) the Urban Ball, an unforgettable and bold black-tie affair in the fall that attracts some 1,000 young professionals and business leaders from the Greater Montreal area; and 2) In Style with Holt, a springtime soirée where 700 style-conscious people descend upon Holt Renfrew Ogilvy for a night of glam, fashion shows and private shopping.

Since 2011, Let’s Bond has raised over $1,390,000 to support local mental health outreach programs and research. Why? Because it affects 1 of 5 person in Quebec and falls on anyone without warning at any time. Mental illness can manifest itself in many ways: depression, bipolar disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, anorexia and bulimia. Therefore, Let’s Bond wants us to come together to overcome the taboos surrounding mental illness and improve the quality of life of sufferers and their families.
