Get Involved with the MTL Movember Movement
Movember month has been live in Montreal, and you can get more involved than simply joining a movement with some added manscaping or lack thereof. There are some fun events happening in our city that revolves around supporting the Movember cause.
Just buying a ticket or participating in any of these events will have you feeling like you did a good deed. As with most things in the 514 scene, there are plenty of Movember events that will help you give back to the men in our lives, and I have listed them for you!
L’Affaire Papillon – The Bowtie Affair
The name says it all: a Bowtie affair.
For the people that are down for an excuse to get all dressed up and drink bubbly at the expense of a good cause, this one is for you. It is only natural that it would come with all the glitz and glamour of an unforgettable Montreal event, in honor of Men’s health. That’s how we roll in this city.
Hosted by the Antonopoulos Group in collaboration with the foundation PROcure, a Quebec founded online directory raising awareness and helping in the scientific development of Prostate cancer, the annual Bowtie affair will be held next Thursday, November 23rd for their 5th edition AND second consecutive year at the beautiful and trendy Hotel William Gray.
“The Procure biobank is a collaborative project between Procure, 4 medical faculties in Quebec(CHUM, MUHC, CHUS, CHU de Quebec) and the fonds de recherche en Sante du Quebec.” Research with the Procure biobanks allow medical professionals the ability to identify additional risk factors and to counter the development AND progression of this cancer.
Expect a beautiful reception with an open bar, a Dj, and some of Montreal’s top restaurants like Mechant Boeuf, Modavie, Verses, Taverne Gaspar, Kyo, Maggie Oaks, and much more at your service all night long. There will be a silent auction in hopes to raise money, as well as a raffle at the end of the night to win some prizes, so make sure not to sneak out too early and miss your chance. And don’t forget that, depending on your ticket of choice, you also have the ability to purchase a bowtie created exclusively for this beautiful evening by local designer, Philippe Dubuc.
Movember Montreal presents: The big League Ball(s)
You could call this a fancy affair minus the fancy.
Organized by a dear friend of mine, and a Mo-Bro ambassador here in Montreal for the past 5 years, Vincent White is bringing the ultimate first edition baseball themed gala in The Chateau St Ambroise next Friday night, November 24th. Hosted by a 10 year Mo bro and Montreal Favorite, Rodrigo Vergara, and In collaboration with The official Movember foundation and Testicular Cancer Canada, expect a vintage-inspired soiree, encouraging sneakers, ball caps, and jerseys supporting your favorite baseball icons.
The goal is to bring you a gala inspired fundraiser, with open bar, delicious eats, silent auction and all, but as the ultimate man inspired affair. Some of Montreal’s favorites will be on site, such as Notorious barbershop offering their infamous shaves, a PS4 lounge sponsored by EB Games(for all you man-children out there), MARK Lumber with the batting lounge, the likes of Shwartz’s deli, Pizzeria Magpie, and Leche Desserts to fill your bellies, as well as the Mother Shucker himself, Mister Jason Nagy. It’s going to be one hell of a night, and it’s in the ever exclusive Gentlemen’s club, with hot tubs in full function!
You can grab your tickets here Tickets- Big league ball 2017 and don’t forget to register at the door for your tax receipt. You will be greeted by yours truly, so I expect to see all your faces there. And if not, you can still donate on behalf of our Mo bro Vincent White at Mo Bro Donations.
… And for all of you out there that may not be interested in a gala or fundraiser of this magnitude and price point, or that perhaps don’t party or drink and prefer sports-related activities, there are a few other small socials going on that still help with the efforts in getting the word out there:
