Electrik People | Sexy Robots

This Los Angeles trio: Electrik People, is making waves. Their song “Make Me A Bird” appeared in Netflix’s original series: Hemlock Grove and they have been producing some incredible music videos with mind blowing FX that really synch nicely with their digitally haunting sound. Sometimes a band’s brand strikes me before the first seconds of their music. When I took a look at their press kit, I was immediately sucked into a world of friendly robots and alternative syth. The logo is powerful. A human in a light bulb. In many ways this defines music itself as being a direct translation of human emotion into something as mechanical or electric as a sound wave.
A major has a nice package of hipster hair cuts and cursive tats on a pretty trio of boys that all provide a very unique edge to the band. Evan Robinson looks like a bad boy and sounds like a synthetic angel. Reid Curby The guitar player/keyboard alongside Svend Lerche (how electronica is his name!) percussionist/programmer provide as a team the dirtier, gritty side to contrast Evan’s airy vocals. They make me think of a higher tech Depeche Mode as a soundtrack with Vampire Weekend-ish vocals.
WE LIE. WE HATE. WE CURSE. WE STEAL.
WE OFTEN HIDE THE WAY WE FEEL. WE LACK FAITH.
WE LOVE THE LORD. WE BUY SHIT WE CAN'T AFFORD.
WE FOUND THE ONES THAT MAKE US WHOLE.
WE DRINK TO FILL A LONESOME SOUL.
WE MAKE LOVE. WE LUST. WE FUCK. WE PLAY IT SAFE.
WE PRESS OUR LUCK. WE PRAY FOR RAIN.
WE LOVE THE SUN. WE START MANY THINGS.
WE FINISH SOME. WE LIKE IT LOUD. WE PUSH.
WE SHOVE.
ABOVE ALL ELSE...WE LOVE.
WE ARE ELEKTRIK PEOPLE
