AQUA BLEU | Singer Pascale B Returns to End Lockdown Blues

Pascale B

After Dreamcatcher and Desert Soul, Pascale B offers us AQUA BLEU — an overview, tinged with pop and lounge touches, of her musical universe which brings together new versions of the best of her two first albums as well as unreleased tracks. This time it’s an authentic singer and a fulfilled mother who is revealed in 11 songs.

Pascale Bourbeau, one of the first true international top models from Quebec, leaves plenty of room for Pascale B, the singer who, over for years, sang at the legendary Troubadour, London, and shot two videos clips in Tunisia. AQUA BLEU also represents another side of this multidisciplinary artist: the photo of the cover is a self-portrait captured under water.

Photography being another of Pascale Bourbeau’s great passions, as Best Kept Montreal had the pleasure to discover in October 2019 at Galerie 203, when she presented around 25 works, most of which were beautiful flowers photographed underwater, as part of the exhibition Vernissage Duo, a collaboration with her mother, painter Mireille Tessier-Bourbeau.

With the complicity of British producer Don V. Louie, AQUA BLEU is Allen, a country folk tune composed for a tribute in Central Park, New York, to a deceased friend; Drive, a cover of the classic The Cars, with a reggae touch; Traffic, a pop song in English version, found on Dreamcatcher. Extracts from her second album, Desert Soul: Shine, co-written with English composer Andy Blackwell, is offered with some musical variations by Montreal producer Franky Selector as well as Fugitive Soul in a lounge version.

Among the guest artists, there is also the legendary saxophonist of the band Supertramp, John Helliwell, on Drive, If you have to go and Aqua Bleu; Montreal guitar player Charles-Étienne Doucet composed the magnificent arrangements of Canyon. On this third album, there are also three pieces in French: the title song, Aqua Bleu, as well as Beauty of Innocence and If you must go.

With the end of lockdown blues in Quebec, what better sign of the coming summer than the uplifting voice of Pascale B.

AQUA BLEU is available on all platforms from June 4, 2021
