It’s so easy to give advice. In fact, too easy. People are always handing out the “You should’s”. Easy to say but hard to do. However, it’s just a matter of how to reboot your mind.
Your body responds to what feels right for you through intuition. It is like your brain is designed like an Operating System that learns how to think and behave through observation and conditioning. Your thoughts influence your reality and are a reflection of your belief system. Neuroscience dictates that your subconscious is trying to prove you right.
Sigmund Freud was the first theorist on this fact that was not criticized but adopted. He stated that “what we believe to be the objective reality surrounding us is actually formed by our subconscious.”
We learn our thoughts and beliefs from other people.
We must gauge and analyze our thoughts to monitor the self-deprecating messages we feed our mind. Acknowledge them AND change them. Your thoughts are not you. They are just false belief systems. If you are broke all the time you must take an inventory of what works and what doesn’t.
Decide what beliefs you want to have and challenge those beliefs; old beliefs indoctrinated from childhood.
Up until the age of 7, the minds of children are in a very influential state. Children don’t know what is right or wrong to believe. They learn thoughts from the people and the environment around them. They learn them from parents, siblings, grandparents and so on. Children just take in and absorb all this information and make it their own. Later in life, they are operating on those thoughts and old beliefs.
You have to ask, what is the story you have been telling yourself and is it actually true? Or, was it a story adopted from other people. Could be, “Love doesn’t seem to be in my life”, or “I am not good enough”. Are many thoughts that you have been thinking actually yours? Are they making you happy? What thoughts have been keeping you from being happy?
Imagine something so basic but so hardwired into us, such as self-defeating messages. I need to be reminded of this on a daily basis! Weed out the negative ones with thoughts that you really want. Fear controls our actions and sabotages our lives. That is some disturbing shit. I can recall numerous times where fear stopped me from doing things. My big self-sabotaging thought was and is at times is that I am not good enough.

Thankfully, through yoga and meditation, I am uprooting those old belief systems and replacing them with ones that excite me and give me confidence.
I am learning to get out of my comfort zone and take the time to listen to my body and emotions. Learning to control them. Doing the work of monitoring my thoughts – and what a daunting task that is. Our brain likes to stick with old stories of belief systems running in the background. It’s what we are used to. All creatures do not like change. We hear this over and over again “we are all creatures of habit”.
Doing something that resonates with your core and your life purpose will translate how your body is responding to those thoughts. Doing something that feels right for you—not what people think you should do. Align your mind to what is fulfilling to you. Understand what your body has been messaging to you. If we ponder a complex decision, meditate on it and feel how the body responds.
Does it make us illuminated and excited? Or does this vision or idea we have set off anxiety and make us shrivel inside.

Sit and wait for an answer. You might just decide to take a walk, a swim, or taking an inspired action. It is about learning to take small steps of inspired actions—just doing things that feel right. Positive things that you know are right for you.
That’s a whole other story! Set a mission statement for your life.
Here is a simple meditation practice to help you reboot your mind and calm the nerves
That starts with a meditation to quiet the mind. Giving a chance to sit even for five minutes and connecting with your breath.
-Sit comfortably on a chair or a pillow. Enough to raise your hip bones above your knees.
-Now, focus on your inhalation and exhalation. What is the quality of it? Just notice it. Just let it be as it is.
-Just observing the breath. Notice any emotions that draw your attention away from the breath.
-Redirect the mind’s attention back to the breath. Countdown from 10, breath in deeeeeply, pause, exhale slowly, pushing all the air out.
Counting down again, 9…and so on.
Since we only have one life (or so we are told), we should be living it to the fullest capacity, right? So, it’s trying to live the life we are meant for. It takes a lot of tools.
