Today is the day we have all been waiting for. For those of you who don’t know, well all you need to know are these 3 words: La. Pizza. Week!!!
That’s right, you heard me! A whole week dedicated to eating what is one of the trendiest foods on earth at the current moment – PIZZA!!!
We all know pizza is life.
Starting as of today, October 24th until the 31st, Halloween night, a slew of restaurants all over the city – 30+ to be exact- will compete for the honors and bragging rights of being the best in town based on 9 different categories: Thin crust, pan crust, calzone, vegan, gluten-free, Margherita, 5 toppings/or all dressed, most original creation and dessert pizza.
I was delightfully invited to the media launch last Tuesday evening at Industria pizzeria + bar where we had the opportunity to participate alongside chef Sergio Mattoscio in a small pizza-making demo. I did not get my hands in there myself BUT a few media members did, and after a few glasses of complimentary Italian wine and beer, you can imagine how fun it was.
This is how La Pizza Week works…
There are 2 voting categories: 1 is via a panel of local judges including some local kings of the cooking scene; But the other is left up to us, the people of Montreal. There will be a voters choice online giving the public the opportunity to vote and win.
There are various prizes available to be won including a Trip for 2 to Italy, flight and hotel included!!! Imagine that?!?! And all you have to do is Eat Pizza, post about it #lapizzaweek, vote and voila! Time to cross those fingers for the win.
Other prizes include gift baskets from Totarella & sons, gift certificates to the many participating restaurants, free pass for le grande roue de Montreal and more.
There is an extensive list of restaurants participating, so whether you are in Little Italy, downtown, St.henri, or even as far as Ahunstic or Laval, there is a pizza joint in your hood. Check out my personal selections below, and click here for the full list of competing restaurants.
Get your eat on MTL, the week will be over before you know it.
