On the MONTREAL FASHION MENU this week…
Fashion Preview #8, starting on October 17th and ending on the 19th. Located at the Agora Hydro Quebec, a super-chic industrial venue in the center of the city next to Place des Arts.
In 2014, Fashion Preview took it upon themselves to initiate a Montreal Fashion event to showcase the local creators and expose them to buyers and media, from here and all over. This is the 8th edition, and Emanuela and her team should be so proud! This is THE event all fashionistas rave about!
To begin this exposé, let us take a look at some of the events that caught my eye.
Starting with DUY on the 17th. His spring/summer 2017 collection, had knee-length dress designs that cascaded to the ground, and contrasted the smooth textures of the fabrics with others like wool and lace. This gave a very interesting, powerful professional-boho impression to the viewer. His boho-meets-business-meets-New-York-runway style killed last year, will the SS18 collection murder this ones?
Then on the 18th, I am riveted for oneself, whose Instagram features women’s fashion in chic designs with delicate patterns, smooth textures and earthy colours in warm tones. Highly aesthetic and minimal, their designs are made for the everyday woman who is ready to kick the glass ceiling’s ass, all while looking simply feminine-boho-chic.
Lastly, there is the recently emerged Rémi Van Bochove, whose show at the Festival Mode et Design 2017 for his collection called “Les fleurs d’opium” was a delightful treat. His designs in this collection emanate high-fashion, with a streetwear feel and some Ancient Chinese influences. With just a taste of his very original style, I’m now starving for more. On the 19th, the feast begins as we see Rémi’s designs open for the last day of FP8.
A 3-day MTL fashion extravaganza, where you will enjoy the showcasing of thirty of Montreal fashion creators, an assortment of local jewelry designers’ and other local vendors’ pop-ups.
A few Pop-Ups worth mentioning include wellDunn whose handmade jewelry is a nice touch of tribal-boho-chic, fit for any man or woman with an earthy style.
And if you enjoy a nice smelling home and contributing to local businesses, Bougies les Citadines will also have a pop-up shop. The company is a local candle maker that uses a mix of soy and perfumed oils to make its’ products. They even have a collection name “Les Quartiers” which is an homage to Montreal’s boroughs. I wonder what Westmount smells like?!?!
Expect to see these local contributors to Montreal’s fashion and design scene and plenty more at Fashion Preview #8. Be there or be square to enjoy the showcased 2018 spring/summer collections.
Get your ticket on eventbrite, you won’t regret it!
